For many years I got to hear CJ preach many sermons on marriage and the importance of keeping it healthy. His own marriage to Lisa speaks volumes. This man who kept his marriage solid for 30+ years and raised 6 kids flawlessly, is the right man to get advice from to help strengthen any relationship issues between husband and wife.‍When I was having trouble in my own marriage years ago, CJ came to the rescue with biblical counseling and encouragement. I can not say in words how much he and Lisa have done for me.‍At times I felt like it was God’s hands pulling me through the turmoil and rough times. They have been a huge blessing in my life.

CJ has inspired me to be very intentional about my marriage, particularly when he shared an idea about waking up in the morning and looking at my wife with special attention; finding the gems in her instead of focusing on her faults. That was a game changer for me.  I also appreciate CJ’s wisdom, understanding and compassion. He makes me feel like I matter to him when sharing situations about my life. That’s so important to me.

CJ gave many practical homework assignments that are helping to build better habits in my marriage and with my kids.‍The process has been thought provoking and challenging, which I was in need of to become a better husband. CJ has been a refreshing reminder of how important it is to keep the love flowing in a marriage relationship no matter how long or how well it’s going.  ‍And it’s always been a high point for me of how he has been able to bring his wife and children along with him in his ministry.‍How he got them involved at an early age. As a pastor that is something we regularly lack.

I am 73 years old and married to the same lovely lady for 43 years.‍We have five sons, and have  been empty-nesters for the last 15 years, and TEWM is still important and meaningful for me.‍CJ reminds me of things I have let slide. His stories help me remember some of my own stories and give me joy, and they amaze me at the goodness of God toward those who seek Him fully.

CJ has helped me wrestle through loving my wife well when we’ve been going through immense challenges. He’s been an ever-ready sounding board for me, and his podcasts give me weekly encouragement to love and pursue my family.‍  He helped reawaken that will and desire to make loving my wife well really feel like the most important thing that I get to do right now, and he gives great insight on how to do that in an intentional manner.  ‍When CJ shares about how he listens to the Holy Spirit for insight into how to pursue or love his wife in some particular situation or day, that really inspires me to do the same.
